Frequently Asked Questions
What’s a Crashpad?
A crashpad is a home away from home. While here at Altus, we know you’re already going through a formal course. There’s no need to stay on base, leave the grade sheets at the gate and go somewhere comfortable.
Why Cleared Direct?
Many prior Altus instructors own or operate crashpads, and there are a few key differences for our operation than our neighbors’:
GSA Federal Employee Stay approval:
We have enrolled our properties with the US Fire administration, and complied with the requirements to be featured on the Hotel-Motel National Master List. This provides our properties with the approval for federal employees
Have at least one single-station and hard-wired smoke alarm in each guest room.
Are approved for U.S. federal government employees while on official travel.
Altus Based Property management:
Our on location property management team is there to respond rapidly to every day operations
You won’t find yourself locked out of your room without access or stuck weeks with broken appliances, our team has experience managing property for years in the Altus area and we leverage that expertise to make sure you have a stress-free stay. Please reference your welcome packet for POC, and don’t hesitate to reach out!
Each of our properties are new homes:
We only partner with properties that pass rigorous inspection standards, you won’t have a leak pop up and destroy your formation briefing cards.
Referral Bonus:
If you were happy with your stay, and want your friends to experience the same level of care that we offer, we will send you $100 for every tenant that moves into our properties for our training. Simply reach out to the POC in your welcome packet, once we confirm your name with the new tenant we will provide you with the referral fee, and yes you can self refer if you’re a repeat customer!
Occupancy Bonus:
If you find yourself with either 3/4 for our four bedroom or 2/3 for our three bedroom properties then we will provide a weekly morale credit of $100 to the house, which can be used at house discretion to improve the morale of all tenants.
Location:
None of our houses are more than two miles from the base gate, meaning you can maximize your class breaks and minimize your time on base.
Can I stay at a crashpad? The indoc brief said no.
The Joint Travel Regulation (JTR) states that service members have the right to choose their lodging, so long as lodging is at or under the budgeted rate ($99/day in Altus) See more in our JTR discussion page. That being said to play nice with Altus, you need an Exception To Policy (ETP) letter.
What’s an ETP Letter?
Essentially, something that shows the Air Force that you need to deviate from their standard policy. Generally, the ETPs that are available upon request from the TRS require proof of either dependents or pets. Luckily, all of our rentals are pet friendly!
How Does payment work?
We want you to worry about the important things while you’re here, so payment is easy. We will bill your government travel card monthly, and email you you the bill to make sure everything reflects accurately. If you have any trouble upon filing your voucher, feel free to reach out and our team will respond promptly.
Something Else?
If you have any questions at all, please reach out to our team. We will do our best to respond promptly, and provide clarity to any questions that you might have.
